Dear Oliver Ellsworth School Community,

As you may know, Virginia Hoerle has resigned effective June 30th. We wish her well in her next endeavor and thank her for her dedicated service to Windsor Public Schools and Oliver Ellsworth School.

This creates our need to find the next Principal for Oliver Ellsworth. Ideally we will identify a new candidate in May/June and have that person available to begin their role on July 1st. As we begin this process, Dr. Terrell Hill, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, will be conducting two focus groups to receive input from families regarding the next Principal. These focus groups, combined with previously received input from the school community and input from staff, will help form our candidate profile for the position. Typically the community focus groups will be planned with one group during the day and one group after school hours. Please watch for an announcement regarding dates for the focus groups in the Friday newsletter update and through School Messenger.

Our process for filling the Principal position will include at least two structured interviews which will include a panel of teachers, staff, district administrators and Principals from other buildings. Several OE parents and family members will be invited to participate in the first round interview. If you are interested, please share that interest with Dr. Terrell Hill through his email,, or at a forum. Following interviews, finalists will meet with the Superintendent and other cabinet members. Eventually, the Board of Education interviews a finalist for the position.

What are the most important skills and attributes Windsor students need to develop in order to ensure success in learning, life, and work beyond school?


The Windsor Public School District is seeking your input on an important endeavor of developing A Profile of a Graduate for Windsor Public Schools. A Profile of a Graduate is a process whereby Windsor Public Schools will identify key skills, competencies, and abilities that we would want to develop in our Windsor graduates over their entire time with us. We are seeking input from many different groups including families, students, faculty, and corporate and civic partners. The results of this exchange will assist the district in creating a roadmap as to how we will develop these attributes in our students from pre-kindergarten through graduation. 


We need your input on what qualities you feel a Windsor Public Schools’ graduate should possess in order to succeed beyond high school. To gather your feedback, we’re using a tool called Thoughtexchange. All of our voices matter, so your participation is crucial and valued.
